Common sense
Authenticity
Courage
Labor has walked away from the people of Australia. They don't love this country, they don't put Australia or Australians first. They've taken the 'u' out of Labor.
And Chris Bowen is certainly not representing the people of McMahon.
I’m sick of our politicians, they are too busy lining their own pockets and the major parties have let us all down.
That's why I am running as an independent for the federal election in the seat of McMahon.
As someone who grew up in Greystanes, grew my business, and family here.
I get it, and we need to get real.
I want to bring common sense, authenticity, and courage back to Canberra.
Policy Positions
Reduce the cost of groceries, fuel & Basics
Every time I walk out of the supermarket, the groceries are lighter and the bill is higher. There are people in McMahon right now that are at a checkout putting items back because they can't afford them. We need cheap and reliable energy. We need fuel prices to come down. It's in the Australian government's power to do something about this, but they just don't care.
Bring back opportunity
Australians should be able to afford the basics. We should not be in a position where Australians have to choose between paying for groceries because there is a monopoly entrenched by corporations, and putting a roof over their heads. We need to bring back an Australia that thrives and prospers. Australian talent should be recognised and encouraged - people should be able to thrive on merit.
Housing for all Australians
Successive governments have failed the people of McMahon and Australia. We should not be in a situation where people can't afford to buy a home.
Right now, we have a supply/demand issue. We need to ensure that every Australian can afford a home. We need to cut government regulations and release public land to ensure new homes can be built.
Scrap fuel, alcohol & Tobacco taxes
There is a flow-on effect to all of these taxes. Everything that is going up in price, is as a direct result of these unnecessary and burdensome taxes. The fuel tax multiplies the cost of everything, from your groceries to your clothes, and everything in between.
The tobacco tax contributes to crime, and it is out of control. Having a beer after a long days work should not be a luxury.
Scrap the taxes.
Department of government efficiency
To review and cut back the more than 1300 government entities. The problem right now is that we have politicians that don't understand the challenges that real people face - they are creating more bureaucracy that does nothing to help the Australian people. They are talking about the things that don't matter. The government should work for the people. Not line their own pockets and not create more inefficient departments that make life harder for everyday Australians.
Make super voluntary
The Australian people are suffering right now. They should be able to use their own money as they see fit. If they need super to buy a home, they should be able to access it.
Freedom
The under 16s social media ban should be reversed. We all want to protect kids, but this is not the way to do it. Australians privacy should be protected and the fundamental principle of freedom of speech and communication should be protected. We deserve the right to voice our concerns to those in power if we are unhappy with their policies.
Why I am running as an independent for the seat of McMahon
I grew up in a seat that has been held by Labor for my whole life.
Almost all of my uncles, aunts, cousins, family and friends voted Labor. I personally could never understand it. To me, it seemed that they were kissing the hand that held them down - held us down.
Slowly, as more time passed, more and more of them started to see through. That the promise of free things from government, never came from government. It came out of us. The talk about support for this community or that, never amounted to anything more than talk.
Sure, it looked good on television, sounded good on radio, but when it came to the crunch we were left out in the cold, as they signalled a new virtue to a newer and shinier group. Meaning none of it. Not authentic, not real, not true.
It is patronising, vapid and sad.
The pain of lost hope. The slow and certain erosion of more of what we had yesterday.
The promise of a nation, a land of opportunity and reward for risk - reward for effort. As grandparents pass, and grandchildren are locked out of home ownership - the cycle seems to be speeding up.
It’s getting worse.
The greatest cure for the love of one’s Union is to call on it, when in genuine need. As was the experience for many in my circle, I think the Unions abandoned the worker at some point last century.
Maybe the day the Labor Party was established…
Either way, it is a lie.
The whole thing.
Like the Liberals, Labor and the Unions are now busy chasing the votes of inner-city, over-educated and under-worked socialites. They’re busy growing the self-serving public service and government waste.
They’re busy trying to please the lobbyists and foreign interests.
At our expense.
Nobody represents workers, middle Australia, small businesses, tradespeople and families.
Nobody.
This must change.
Australia has always succeeded, despite the corruption and incompetence of the establishment. Probably because the government used to be smaller and we didn’t take it too seriously.
That has changed. Rapidly. We are now the unlucky country. We are now a country that struggles to put a roof over our heads, pay the power bill and put food on the table – it is ridiculous. Forget holidays.
The only path back is the one we - the people of Australia - forge for ourselves.
We must take matters into our own hands now.
We must enter parliament ourselves.
That’s why I am running for the seat of McMahon.
I just want Australia back.
Come and help.
Let’s get Australia back.
